I received this DVD set today. http://www.reclaimingtheblade.com/. It talks about the use of swords in cinema and the development of swords in Europe. John Rhys Davies (Gimli) is the narrator. There's a sprinkling of Lord of the Rings folk on it. I've yet to watch it. But the reviews suggest that the behind the scenes is where the really good stuff is.

I've watched the first disc, 78 minutes. It is awesome! It focuses on how the study of Western Martial Arts is growing, and the importance of studying the old masters. It shows different clubs from around the world training in sword techniques. There is a trend towards more realism in movies. Kingdom of Heaven, Troy, and Gladiator are cited as movies where 'some' attempt has been made to follow historically accurate techniques. Movies are seen as keeping the romance of swordsmanship alive, giving us a base to explore western swordsmanship.

Maxthon is not supported

Maxthon is not supported. As long as a site renders nicely in FF, and okay in IE, I'm happy.
