The short sword is a sword that is designed to be wielded with one hand. It is double edged sword.

To be graded as competent with this weapon you must answer the following theory questions:-

• Name the sword's fittings
  
  • Cross guard
  • Handle
  • Pommel
• Name the part of the sword to which the these fittings attach.
  
  • Tang
• Name 5 or more different types of swords

Demonstrate:-

• The eight guards
  
  • Low Guard
  • Outside middle guard
  • Inside middle guard
  • St George
  • Front leg guard
  • Outside body guard
  • Outside Bastard Guardant
  • Inside Bastard Guardant
• The transition between the following guards
  
  • Outside and inside guard
  • Front leg guard and outside body guard

And own a belt. Extra credit can be gained by:-

• Owning a pouch
• Owning a frog (clasp)
• Making the belt and other items yourself
